According to the employees surveyed, many employers have reacted to the Corona pandemic and are increasingly focusing on location-independent working. One in three employees (33 percent) introduced home office for the first time, and 43 percent had existing home office regulations extended by their employer. For 45 percent of employees, telephone and web conferences are replacing previous face-to-face meetings.
Other measures concern hygiene rules and information policy. Classic manners are taboo: 96 percent of working people say their employer has banned handshake greetings. 88 percent have been informed about personal hygiene measures such as regular and more frequent hand washing.

For some working people, the corona pandemic is associated with significant cuts in their usual daily work routine , such as a complete ban on receiving any guests at the company location (19 percent), the cancellation of their own events with external guests (14 percent), the cancellation of participation in external events such as trade fairs and congresses (11 percent), the restriction of business trips (10 percent) or a general ban on business trips (8 percent).
Note on methodology: The information is based on a survey conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of the digital association Bitkom. Between March 11 and 15, 2020, 1,002 people aged 16 and over were interviewed by telephone, including 522 working people.
