The Wieliczka Salt Mine was once the largest salt deposit in Europe. Salt mining began here in the 13th century and continued for seven centuries, until the 20th century. The most beautiful salt mine in the world has nine floors and a total length of about 250 kilometers. It is a whole system of winding underground corridors and galleries. The first level is at a depth of 64 meters, and the lowest goes down 327 meters underground.
