Through this and other segmentation efforts, Dormify increased its email marketing revenue by 92%.
How to segment your market by geography? Geographic segmentation is when you separate your customers based on where they are located. If you are an international store, this can be by continent or country. You can also segment by region, state, city, and even neighborhoods or areas within a city.
Patagonia, is known for hosting local events in cities where it has a strong customer base. The company hosted an event on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at one of its stores. It invited customers to browse a photo gallery, drink beer from a local brewery, and even meet the artist. Even though Patagonia has stores all over the United States, the email invitation to this event was sent to the company’s subscribers who live in the area and were within walking distance.
Here is an example of market segmentation done following behavioral indonesia email list criteria. This method creates groups based on the behavior of online customers, for example:
How they use your website (which pages they visited, which links they clicked, what time they made purchases, when they made their last purchase, etc.)
What do they know about your products (are they still learning or are they ready to make a purchase?)
How do they use your products (do they come back often to restock or buy more?)
How do they make decisions (are they impulsive or slow to buy?)
For example, some customers spend months learning about a product before buying it, while some customers are more impulsive and buy it as soon as they see it. Some want to go to a physical store to see the product in person, while others always buy online. When you know how customers behave, it is easier to give them what they want.
